I've been making these bad babies NON STOP!  If you know me, I'm really into the arts. I am always making things and art is a really big thing in my life. Whether it's make up, cooking, painting, writing, sculpting, drawing,, YOU NAME IT, I consider it all an art release. I am literally cross eyed from making these things cause they are so freaking TINY! But I think I'm getting better and better each new collection I do, don't ya think? The only reason these aren't on bracelets yet are because the wire cutters I bought don't even work. So until I get some wire cutters these will just be figurines. I got a couple people asking me if I'm willing to sell 'em. What ya'll think...good idea?

So, my newest hobby is making charms :) These are my first ever pieces that I've made. I think I did okay for a noob :) I was thinking they could be on bracelets or keychains, or even the phone thingamajiggers. What are they called? Phone charms? LOL.

I'm making themed sets next, like pacman characters, sanrio, desserts :) SO EXCITED!

SUGAR is the devil's dust...OR IS IT?

As a kid, I DID NOT have a sweet tooth. As freakishly abnormal as this sounds, I actually preferred vegetables. Fast forward a good decade or two and the INNER FAT GIRL within me was born. My taste buds have definitely evolved and every tooth I own is sweet and all my taste buds yearn for that oh so yummilicious sweetness of delectable foodgasm ecstasy...AKA devil's dust. Some people might say it's a little melodramatic to call it that 'cause there are other white powdery substances more suitable for that name (which shall not be named) but, by golly, IT MIGHT AS WELL BE CRACK. Except the kind that just makes you fat. & for the umpteenth time, I KNOW I'M NOT FAT. I just wasn't blessed with good fat distribution. BELIEVE ME, if my fat went in all the right places, I would be doing this all day...

bathing in donuts!
Ok, that actually sounds and looks disgusting.

But last night,  as I was researching the health benefits on sugar (are there any?) I discovered that there may not really be any HEALTH benefits by consuming sugar but it is useful!

('cause I sure didn't, so if you already knew please let me just lather in my new found knowledge sharing moment ok!?)

Sugar can help clean pimple overnight.

no, freaking way?WAY! & here's how..
Mix 1tsp of sugar & put a few drops water until it turns into a pasty consistency.
Apply enough of the paste to cover the blemish and leave on overnight.

Sucrose inhibits the growth of bacteria to help reduce the swelling by morning.
Anything that kills pimples is a friend in my book!

Sugar brings instant relief to painful burned tongue.
(I do this on the reggies 'cause I like my food HOT HOT HOT!)
Pinch of sugar and hold it against the roof of your mouth.
The melting crystals stimulate the brain to release endorphins aka the chemical released after the boom chicka wow wow

Sugar can lighten skin discoloration.
Add ½ tsp of sugar to a bowl filled with the juice of half a lemon. Apply and leave on for a couple minutes, then rinse. The abrasive sugar granules and the natural bleaching agents in the citrus fruit will gently fade dark spots.

Sugar can help fire up the grill.
When exposed to high temperatures, sugar rapidly decomposes and forms hydroxymethyl-furfural, a chemical that easily ignites.

Sugar as flies trap.
Combine ½ cup of sugar, 2 cups of milk and 2oz of ground pepper in a small saucepan. Let simmer for 10 minutes, then pour into empty plates and leave in the open where flies will be attracted to its sweetness. Heating the ingredients causes the sugar to melt, making it very sticky. Milk and pepper enhance the aroma of the caramelized sweetener, attracting flies to the glue-like mixture and trapping them instantly.

Kill Cockroaches with sugar.
Mix equal parts of sugar and baking powder. Sugar attracts cockroaches and baking powder kills them.

That one is actually very helpful because I cannot kill any bugs that make a crunch *shivers*

Boo Boo Healer
Treat minor cuts and scrapes with a sprinkle of sugar. The ancient germ buster is naturally antibacterial, and it speeds up healing as well.

So, sugar, you and I are officially friends with benefits...

Tutorial: Curls WITHOUT Heat

hair air dried, no product.
Is it possible...

to beat the heat without breakin' a sweat in 3 minutes or less?

-Of COURSE it is! I learned this trick awhile back in high school when putting your hair in a bun was the "cool" thing to do and after school I would take it down and one side of my hair would be nice but the other would be weird. And I thought about it and I realized the reason one side was messed up and the other wasnt was because it was all in the same direction because it was in ONE bun! Don't get it? AHH, you'll see! Don't get ur knickers in a knot! Anywhoo, this method I use is perfect for me because I am blonde and well, when you're blonde, HEAT IS NOT YOUR FRIEND.

Besides, it shaves off a good 15-25minutes off any "getting ready" time!

Haati Chai Haul- Rings

My friend Alex has this ring obsession and happened to show me Haati Chai by Stella Simona's site and was telling me how badly he wanted one. Since his birthday was coming and they were 50% off, I decided to put in an order for him. As I was browsing through her Facebook page, I was pretty amazed at the type of the jewelry Stella Simona was making. They are custom pieces that she makes herself & sells them through Haati Chai by Stella Simona, which is her blogspot. Along with the rings I purchased, she has a dozen other custom rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, head pieces, nose rings, etc. They all look so amazing but the question is, which one is best for you? Below you will see the rings I purchased, which were the Mehndhi Rings in rose gold & silver and the Haati Luck Ring. The Mehndi Rings are $45 each & the Haati Luck Ring is $49 each. Yeah they're a little pricey but they're one of a kind investment pieces. Oh the best part about them is, they're ADJUSTABLE! Yayyy that means skinny or pudgy fingers will fit without sizing issues. Hooray! That's what really drew me in because uhh.. obviously my fingers aren't exactly skinny & it's hard for me to find cute rings that fit. The only gripe I have about my ring would be the luck ring... one of the pieces fell off on the first day & Stella said she would fix it for me if brought it in. Hopefully I'll be able to get that done but other than that... no complaints. The pieces are really pretty & they will fit all of your fingers. There's really no right or wrong way to wear them, it's all up to you. Lovin' these Indian inspired pieces :)

Just a quick tip, seems like they do have a lot of sales on different items so if you're interested you can see all the great deals on Facebook. Oh, also don't forget to follow me on Twitter!

Since I went there myself to pick up the rings, I decided to sneak a pic of some of her accessories -- Super cute!

GORJESS EATS #1: My Twisted Tomato Rice Soup

I've never done a cooking post but I'm cooking all the time.  It's about time I post some of my successful cooxperiments (why on earth would I ever post the failed ones, not like there are any ;P)
So yeah, I actually made this gorjess original recipe today after being inspired by eating some tomato rice soup at the urth caffe.

tomato rice soup @urth caffe
451 South Hewitt Street, Los Angeles -
(213) 797-4534

It's a very simple soup, tasted like chef boyardi sauce watered up with a scoop of rice but it was delish nonetheless! So, I decided to make my own version of tomato rice soup using spicy chicken bratwursts, baby portabella mushrooms and corn for a twist on soup & can I just say it was a BIG HIT for dinner :)

What you'll need:
(Servings: 6)

3 ( you can use more if you like it meaty ~.^) spicy chicken bratwursts
2 cans del monte tomato sauce
4-6 roma tomatoes
1 white onion
4-5 cloves of garlic
1 package baby portabella mushrooms
1 whole white corn
2 tablespoons canola oil

2-3 quarts of water depending on how watery or thick you want your soup
1 1/2 cups of rice
3 tablespoons chicken bouillon

& the following spices vary to your taste:
lemon & pepper
garlic salt
black pepper

Start by heating up your pot & putting your oil. While waiting for the oil to heat up, proceed by mincing garlic and chopping onions. Brown garlic first and then sautee onions.

Add half a cup of water & then place brats in pot. I used Johnsonville's Spicy Chicken Bratwursts. The reason I only used three was 'cause that was all I had but it worked out perfectly :)

After the sausages have simmered long enough in water you have two options:

slice it up nice and pretty like sausages are usually cut

smash it up like ground meat for the sole purpose of better meat distribution

You can guess which one I did. Just 'cause if I cut it up nice and pretty I don't think the sausages would've gone around as nice as it did.

dice up tomatoes and throw them in the pot

Add 2-3 quarts of water

Add canned tomato sauce, rice & spices. Let simmer.

Smash up the tomato chunks when soft & add the mushrooms & corn!

Hope you enjoyed my twist on tomato rice soup & stay gorjess..body, mind & soul :)
