OMG! I'm OBSESSED!

I've been making these bad babies NON STOP!  If you know me, I'm really into the arts. I am always making things and art is a really big thing in my life. Whether it's make up, cooking, painting, writing, sculpting, drawing,, YOU NAME IT, I consider it all an art release. I am literally cross eyed from making these things cause they are so freaking TINY! But I think I'm getting better and better each new collection I do, don't ya think? The only reason these aren't on bracelets yet are because the wire cutters I bought don't even work. So until I get some wire cutters these will just be figurines. I got a couple people asking me if I'm willing to sell 'em. What ya'll think...good idea?

Battle Bacon

Anybody who really knows me will tell you that I'm the weirdest person alive because I don't like bacon!! Yeah, I know, I know it is strange but something about the texture, fat, taste it just doesn't rub me right. So this experimental dish was inspired by bacon-loving friends (like Jessica), it's chicken breast wrapped in turkey bacon with a white wine mushroom corn cream sauce with brown rice & a bed of fresh herbs and greens. In hopes of battling my bacon-hating demons I challenged myself to include it in my next meal.

Ok, I marinated the chicken breast over night with my favorite spices & then wrapped them with the turkey bacon today. I oven baked them at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes with some white wine. The sauce is just a simple white sauce with mushrooms, garlic, corn and red pepper flakes. The brown rice was cooked over the stove because I'm a horrible Asian-being and I do not have a rice cooker! I suppose keeping it old school saves me money and room in the kitchen. I mean the sauce isn't the healthiest thing in the world but everything else is.... right? Maybe... maybe not but they are healthier alternatives. I mean cooking at home is way healthier than eating out right? Of course! You know exactly what you're putting in there, how much of it,where it comes from and you save money. The best part of it is, you can always experiment and tweak whatever recipes you know. Making food from scratch can be time consuming but once you get used to it, you can whip up a tasty meal within 30 mins (yeah I channel my inner Rachel Ray) as long as you know how to multitask.

For dessert, I made an orgasmic chocolate cupcake with an even better chocolate ganache whip topped with a milk chocolate garnish & chocolate covered strawberry. This was also made from scratch with a very basic chocolate cake recipe, even more basic chocolate ganache recipe & with the help of my fridge the chocolate garnish was possible. If you are in the SoCal (LA) area and are interested in purchasing some cupcakes, go ahead leave me a comment, tweet me(@conniechacha) or email me for more info! I hope this post made you hungry and want to experiment in the kitchen with foods you don't really like. Who knows, maybe you'll end up loving it. :) & Nahh still not in love with bacon yet but this was a damn yummy meal.

The Start To My 2011 (really pic heavy)

Happy belated 2011 to all of you! Well for the New Year my bf and I headed out to Vegas because I had bought him tickets to UFC 125. We watched the New Years countdown in front of the MGM Hotel & Casino, the fireworks, the dancing crowd dancing on the strip, it was all quite a wonderful experience.
We stayed in the new City Center on Las Vegas Blvd (the strip) at Vdara. It's a beautiful non-smoking, no casino hotel with an amazing view of the strip, 15 & their roadway. Now generally when we go to Vegas, we're not into the whole clubbing scene but we manage to have a good time by gambling. The weather was pretty cold for a California native (30 something degrees = nipply) So, on New Years day, we went to UFC 125 which had an amazing fight card filled with lots of knock outs and disappointment. There was a championship fight between Maynard & Edgar, and it ended up becoming a DRAW! SAY WHAT? (I had Maynard winning..) Obviously, the crowd was pretty shocked!

Anyway, next day we decided to walk around the Cosmopolitan (also located @ City Center) & it is O M G AMAZEBALLS! The beauty, the elegance, the art, the detail... everything about it is so pretty. They have this amazing bar/lounge called The Chandelier, and it's just this giant chandelier hanging from the roof cascading to the floor. There is also this jewelry place called Jason of Beverly Hills & their bling is breathtaking. Remember those snow globes when you were a kid? Well, imagine that but in accessory and diamond form -- AHHH SO AMAZING. One of their watches will also run you about 100k... so IDK about all that but it's def something to look at. If you ever go to Vegas, you NEED to check out City Center, it's so detail oriented, I LOVE IT! (Bring an extra battery because you WILL be taking loads of pix)
Enjoy the pictures, there are more to come!

Dessert from the Wicked Spoon Buffet inside the Cosmopolitan, everything was delish & yes.. GOLD DUSTED desserts. hehehe. The buffet was also a good bang for my buck.. it was about $30/person which is a decent price in Vegas. Def worth it! yummy yummy in my tummy!
